The Geneva Area City School District Board of Education is pleased to announce their next superintendent, Dr. Paul Lombardo. Dr. Lombardo brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of leadership to our district.
Dr. Lombardo graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Math Education. He furthered his education by obtaining both his principal and superintendent's licenses from Cleveland State University, and he earned his doctorate in Instructional Leadership from Northcentral University.
Dr. Lombardo began his teaching career at Maui High School in Hawaii. He returned to Cleveland and taught at his alma mater, Mayfield High School. He has also coached college football at Knoxville College as well as obtaining his firefighter and EMT certifications all while working at his family’s Italian food store. Dr. Lombardo returned to education, spending 14 years at Willoughby-Eastlake Schools. Most recently, he spent 12 years in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Schools as the director of human resources, assistant superintendent of HR and Operations, and currently, as assistant superintendent. Additionally, he teaches as an adjunct professor at Cleveland State University in the principal leadership program.
Dr. Lombardo has been recognized for his contributions to education, receiving numerous awards including the 2021 CH-UH May Tiger Team Member of the Month for "Creating a Culture of Excellence," the 2018 OASPA Distinguished HR Administrator of the Year (William Hunter Award), and the 2012 Lake County Administrator of the Year. He also received the 2009 Ohio School Resource Officers Association Administrator of the Year and was honored with the Good Samaritan Hero Award from the Lake County Association of Chiefs of Fire in the same year. His leadership during a potential crisis at South High School was acknowledged with resolutions from the City of Willoughby and the City of Willoughby Hills.
Dr. Lombardo is married to his wife and best friend, Sarah Lombardo, for 27 years. Sarah holds a doctorate in Audiology and works for University Hospitals. They are proud parents of three children: Jack, a chemical engineering and accounting graduate with a CPA working in accounting; Maria, a hair stylist and makeup artist; and their youngest, Daniel, who is completing his first year in computer engineering at The Ohio State University.
Our district is so excited to welcome Dr. Lombardo along with his vision, leadership and ability to foster and develop an environment of excellence for students, staff and community.
